Arizona Utility Deploys Sycamore Multiservice Networking Solution

Chelmsford, Mass. - Sycamore Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCMR) today announced that Arizona's largest and longest-serving electric utility, is deploying the Sycamore DNX multiservice cross-connect platform in the backbone of its voice and data communications infrastructure. Arizona Public Service (APS) will use the Sycamore multiservice solution to enhance network reliability and improve bandwidth efficiencies.

"We are very pleased to deliver APS a high-performance solution that meets their critical networking needs," said Daniel E. Smith, president and CEO, Sycamore Networks. "Utility operators such as APS depend on their infrastructure networks to ensure the highest degree of service availability. With advanced service protection and innovative bandwidth management capabilities, our multiservice switching solutions are optimized to help our customers achieve greater levels of reliability and flexibility, while improving operational efficiencies."

Proven in many of the industry's leading utility networks, the DNX-11/88 multiservice cross-connect platforms combine service interface density with intelligent bandwidth management features, enabling utility network operators to meet a broad range of aggregation and grooming applications, reduce network cost and complexity, and deliver resilient network services. With a non-blocking switching fabric that can accommodate a broad range of bandwidth levels up to OC-3/STM-1 optical transport, the DNX provides the power of a large footprint digital cross-connect (DCS) in a compact, scalable platform, with a unique IP forwarding engine and integrated test access and diagnostic features.
